This executive leadership role supports the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) by overseeing strategic nursing initiatives and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, family-centered care across the NICU.The Director will have 24/7 accountability for assigned clinical units and will play a critical role in driving care standards, staff development, regulatory compliance, and resource optimization within a Level III trauma hospital setting.Key ResponsibilitiesProvides strategic leadership and oversight for neonatal care services, ensuring adherence to evidence-based clinical practices.Collaborates with the CNO and interdisciplinary teams to evaluate, implement, and improve patient care models that align with hospital objectives.Leads and mentors NICU nursing managers, clinical supervisors, and staff to ensure competency, professional growth, and performance excellence.Develops and manages departmental budgets while promoting efficient resource utilization and cost-effective care delivery.Supports a culture of safety and continuous improvement through active participation in performance improvement programs and initiatives.Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accrediting agency standards, including AHA, Joint Commission, and state nursing boards.Acts as a role model for ethical nursing leadership and serves as an advocate for patients, families, and nursing professionals.Required QualificationsEducation:Associate degree in Nursing with a Bachelor's in healthcare or BSN requiredPreferred: MSN or Master's degree in a healthcare-related fieldExperience:Minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital setting as a full-time charge nurse, nurse manager, or related leadership roleCertifications & Licensure:Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practiceAmerican Heart Association BLS certification requiredAdditional clinical or neonatal certifications are a plus Core CompetenciesStrong understanding of NICU clinical operations and neonatal healthEffective in crisis management and capable of navigating complex hospital environmentsExceptional interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skillsProven leadership in regulatory readiness and healthcare quality standardsFinancial acumen for budget planning and department oversightConclusion
