Location: Pershing Elementary SchoolTHIS POSITION IS FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEARANTICIPATED START DATE IS AUGUST 7, 2026This position will support school age students and the Early Childhood program.The applicant will work in collaboration with special education and classroom teachers to assist with students identified with special needs. Must be willing to assist students in a variety of educational areas, in the classroom and out of the classroom. Good attendance, collaboration and communication skills will also be needed for this position. Additional duties involving the supervision of students may be assigned. Some assistance with helping students in the bathroom, including lifting, may be required.In the Early Childhood (preschool) program, the paraeducator will work with 3-5 year old children in a learning and social environment. Duties include assisting in the classroom, including snack and lunch set up/clean up, facilitating learning, play and self-help activities, and assisting teachers in implementation of Individual Education Programs for children below age five who have verified disabilities. Paraeducators are assigned non-teaching duties which include a wide variety of activities.Position requires 48 hours of semester college credit (equates to 72 quarter system ours) or an associate degree to comply with Title I requirement. Within this requirement, must meet requirements of State Rule 11, which states at least 12 semester credit hours in early childhood/child development or the equivalent in prior training or experience. Associate Degree in Early Child Development preferred. A candidate who does not meet these requirements may be considered. At time of hire, a condition of employment is to complete 6 hours via training or experience during the first year of employment; the other 6 hours must be met by the end of the 2nd year of employment. Must be 19 years of age and meet State of NE licensing requirements including being CPR certified and hold a First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain and maintain).2025-2026 Salaries (2026-2027 Salaries pending board approval):Special Education PIII Para (3 hours) - $20.50/hour.Early Childhood Para (4.5 hours) - $20.50/hour.Position subject to veterans prefernce.All communication regarding this employment opportunity (including interview requests) is communicated via email.
