Banquet Captain

Position Summary: Hallmark Resort Newport is looking for a friendly and professional Banquet Captain to help execute our special functions and events. This role includes welcoming and assisting guests, coordinating event details, helping with setup and cleanup, serving guests, addressing questions and promptly resolving any issues to ensure an exceptional guest experience. To be a successful Banquet Captain, you’ll need excellent customer service and communication skills. You should be professional, polite and focused on efficient and friendly service to guests. The ability to give clear, positive in the moment feedback to banquet staff is also important. Responsibilities: · Create remarkable experiences for our colleagues and guests · Assist with event preparation, set up, and closing, including setting up and packing away tables, tablecloths, settings and buffets · Supervise the banquet team on setup, during events, and post event · Assist guests with AV setup, testing, room or space adjustments and any last-minute requests · Greet guests, answer questions, take orders and convey special instructions to the kitchen and bar, serve food and beverages · Train new banquet servers · Meet with Sales & Catering Manager weekly to review upcoming events, schedule, and feedback from prior week’s events · Monitor inventory and communicate any needs; ensure equipment is prepared and ready for next event · Adhere to safety and quality regulations Requirements: · Minimum of 3 years of experience in a banquet-related role’ serving experience preferred · Must possess a valid OLCC license and Oregon Food Handler Permit, or be able to obtain within 1 week of being hired · Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing, climbing stairs and occasionally lifting, pushing or pully up to 50 pounds · Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to work as part of a team · Quick thinker with strong problem-solving skills to handle issues effectively · Flexible and willing to work long hours and varied shifts Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $18.00 per hour Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Vision insurance Work Location: In person
