This person provides leadership and accountability in the nursing discipline within the cultural context of creating individualized plans of care and ensures policies and procedures are in place to meet Federal and State regulations as well as standards or practice. In addition, the Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops and directs nursing efforts in all skilled areas, including Penfield, to ensure provision for supervision and development of nursing staff members.Qualifications & Education RequiredCurrent New York State Registered Professional Nursing License, Baccalaureate degree or a minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing and supervisory experience.Will complete Eden Associate training (provided by St. John’s when needed)Ability to interact with elders and care for their needsWillingness to embrace and exemplify St. John’s Brand CharacteristicsPosition CompetenciesProblem solving / decision making: Creates a plan for staffing and coverage for nursing administration, an overall neighborhood coverage philosophy, and leads to execution of that plan.Leadership skills: provides consultation services to support elders and Core Team as needed, leads by example, and distributes responsibilities among interdisciplinary team members.Coaching and development of employees, sets clear expectations, manages ADON, Clinical Resource Nurse(s) and all clinical staffOrganizational skills: talent management (participate staffing, hiring, performance improvement), Quality Assurance Performance Improvements, financial Acumen (participate with budgeting, payroll and ordering) Interpersonal skills in line with a highly visible leadership roleElder advocate: advocate optimal quality of life for elders by responding to QOL concernsPhysical RequirementsSits, stands, walks most of the day. Frequent moving and lifting of residents.
