Manager, Software Engineering – Westlake, Texas (Onsite 5 days/week) – Permanent
Role Overview
We are seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead and mentor engineering teams building our enterprise technology platform. This role balances technical leadership with people management and delivery ownership, ensuring scalable, secure, and high‑quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor software engineers, supporting career growth and performance management.
Provide technical leadership including code reviews, architecture guidance, and best practices.
Collaborate with Product, QA, Design, and Business teams to ensure successful delivery.
Represent engineering in planning and stakeholder discussions.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Own delivery commitments for assigned pods, ensuring features are delivered on time and aligned with business priorities.
Manage delivery trade‑offs, risks, and dependencies to maintain predictable outcomes.
Address team performance challenges, including coaching and managing underperformance when necessary.
Leadership Expectations
Lead 1–4 pods consisting of 3–5 engineers each.
Work with onshore and nearshore teams.
Drive delivery execution and team performance.
Provide mentorship, technical oversight, and guidance to engineering leads and team members.
Contribute technically up to ~25% of the time, including code reviews, debugging, and assisting teams during critical delivery phases.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
5+ years of full‑stack development experience.
Proven experience leading engineering teams.
Experience working in Agile environments.
Technical Skills:
Strong experience with React.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
Understanding of scalable system design and modern software architecture.
Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and cloud platforms (AWS/Heroku).
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is negotiable, plus a 10% bonus.
