Structural Engineer - Building Design

OverviewABOUT THE POSITIONStructural Engineer - Building Design | Watertown, MAIn this position, you would serve an important role in planning, analysis, design, detailing of a diverse range of structural projects, as well as supporting other projects as needed. The ideal candidate should possess a "can-do" attitude, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work independently as well as with a team in a dynamic, fast paced, and fun environment.ResponsibilitiesDevelops, organizes, and implements structural planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for structural projectsSupports and mentors junior team members in the development of design plans, technical oversight, specifications, design calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, etc.Support a diverse range of structural projects across VHB's footprintSkills & AbilitiesStrong understanding of concepts, practices, and procedures in structural engineeringMust possess strong technical skills with knowledge of structural systems and codesExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsDemonstrates excellence in verbal presentations and technical writingTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlyRobust technical and critical thinking skillsProactive and self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail and qualityAbility to lead and collaborate with a team of staff working remotelyEnthusiasm to learn, seek out opportunities, and take responsibilityStrong organizational and time management skillsProficiency in the use of structural engineering software Revit, AutoCAD, and/or MicrostationQualificationsBachelor's degree in civil engineering required, master's degree preferred (may substitute for 1 year of experience)3-5 years of structural engineering experience required.EIT required.PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred.Familiarity with Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build project deliveryWe are VHB!
