WELDING LEAD
Job Title: Welding Lead Reports To: Production Manager FLSA Status:TBD Department: Precision Fabrication Location: Waxahachie, Texas Shift: Full-time, 40 hours per week Job Code: PWL0123 Summary/Scope of Role: The Welding Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily welding activities to ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved. This role serves as a working lead, providing hands-on support, training, and guidance to welding team members while assisting management with workflow coordination and problem-solving. Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead and support daily welding operations within the department Familiar with rivets, rivnuts, rivet guns, and similar assembly style products. Assign work and monitor production flow to meet schedules and deadlines Monitor production workers to be clocked in to their appropriate steps and sequences on work orders Train, coach, and mentor welders on processes, quality expectations, and safety procedures Verify weld quality and ensure compliance with company standards and specifications Troubleshoot welding issues, fit-up concerns, and production bottlenecks Ensure proper use and maintenance of welding equipment and tools Keeping inventory and stocking of welding consumables (wire spools, tungsten, filler rods, etc.) Promote and enforce workplace safety practices and PPE requirements Coordinate with production, quality, engineering, and maintenance teams as needed Assist with setup optimization, creating jigs, and continuous improvement initiatives Monitor material/part usage and report shortages or production concerns Maintain accurate production and quality documentation Support attendance, performance, and disciplinary discussions when necessary Requirements:High school diploma or GED preferred 5+ years of welding experience, primarily aluminum, is required Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strong understanding and ability to do the following welding processes of; MIG & TIG welding across Steel, Stainless Steel, and primarily Aluminum materials, as well as brazing, and other applicable welding processes Ability to read prints, weld symbols, machine programs, and production assembly drawings Ability to accurately use tape measures and digital/dial calipers Knowledge of welding quality standards, tolerancing, and inspection methods Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed Comfortable working in a manufacturing or production environment with exposure to heat, sparks, open flame, and noise Preferred SkillsForklift or overhead crane experience Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience Basic computer and production tracking knowledge Employee Signature Date Manager/HR Manager Signature Date
