Junior Lighting Designer

Our San Francisco studio, opened in early 2016, is growing rapidly and boasts a diverse portfolio of work along with an impressive list of high-caliber clients.The PositionWe are seeking a part-time, enthusiastic Junior Lighting Design to support our growing team of professionals. This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates who are eager to learn, highly motivated, and interested in developing technical and creative skills within the lighting design industry.Compensation & Schedule• This is a part-time position, approximately 20–30 hours per week, depending on availability and studio needs• Estimated hourly pay range: $25–$35 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and skill levelThe OpportunityThis internship represents a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at one of the world’s leading lighting design firms. Interns will be exposed to real projects, mentored by experienced designers, and immersed in a collaborative and inspiring studio environment. As a progressive firm always looking ahead, we are searching for someone who is curious, passionate about light, and excited to grow with us.ResponsibilitiesIntern responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Assisting with writing and editing specificationsDrafting support, including AutoCAD and REVITAssisting with lighting detail developmentPreparing cut-sheets, packages, and document setsScanning and organizing images and project filesProofreading documentsAssisting with day-to-day project coordinationSupporting cost estimate preparationAssisting with procuring samples and preparing lighting mockupsCoordinating with local sales representatives for lighting equipmentAssisting with project site visits, including occasional out-of-town travel, as requiredQualifications and RequirementsCurrently pursuing or recently completed a degree in architecture, interior design, lighting design, or a related fieldNo prior lighting industry experience requiredBasic knowledge of AutoCAD and/or REVIT (academic experience acceptable)Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Strong attention to detailGood organizational and time management skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills in EnglishFamiliarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plusInterest in lighting design and eagerness to learn lighting calculation software (e.g., AGI32)Please e-mail a cover letter explaining your interest in the internship and your career goals to sf@electrolight.com.
