Job DescriptionJob SummaryA Veterinary Technician supports our veterinary team by providing hands-on patient care, assisting during procedures, and ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environment. They are quick learners with a passion for animals, a strong work ethic, and the ability to stay calm and professional in a fast-paced setting. Veterinary Technicians work closely with veterinarians and credentialed technicians, gaining skills and experience through mentorship and training while making a direct impact on the health and comfort of our patients.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and proceduresSafely restrain animals for examinations, diagnostics, and treatmentsPerform basic patient care tasks such as feeding, watering, bathing, and cleaning kennels or hospital areasPrepare and set up equipment and supplies for proceduresMaintain cleanliness and organization in exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suitesProcess lab samples and run in-house diagnostic tests as trainedAccurately update patient records in the hospital computer systemCommunicate with clients regarding basic home care instructions, preventive health, and medication administration as directed by the veterinarianMonitor patients recovering from anesthesia and report changes to the supervising veterinarian or technicianStock supplies and assist with inventory managementFollow safety and infection control protocols to protect patients, clients, and team membersQualificationsPrevious experience in veterinary medicine, animal care, or a related field preferredWillingness to learn veterinary terminology, procedures, and patient care protocolsAbility to work flexible schedules, including some weekends and holidaysStrong communication skills and the ability to work well in a teamComfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperamentsAbility to stay composed and efficient in high-pressure situationsDetail-oriented, organized, and able to follow instructions preciselySkillsBasic computer proficiency and ability to learn veterinary practice management softwareUnderstanding of animal handling and restraint techniquesCommitment to compassionate care for pets and respectful communication with clientsAbility to multitask while maintaining accuracy and attention to detailNational Veterinary Associates is a leading global pet care organization united in the love of animals and the people who love them.At NVA, we're on a mission to improve the lives of pets and the people who love them.
