JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Plant Production Manager - Manufacturing REPORTS TO: Operations Manager JOB SUMMARY: Pay will be based on knowledge and skills. Manufacturing Production Manager with manufacturing and management experience and strong leadership skills to oversee production departments within our Auburn Facility. The ideal Production Manager will have a strong understanding of and appreciation for process flow, standard work, lean manufacturing principles, 5S, information flow, and schedule management in an environment focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. The production Manager will oversee several Department Managers. A team player able to coordinate and communicate effectively with sister-departments while developing a culture of teamwork and metric-driven performance within the team. Leadership in team building and employee development is essential. Hands-on, pragmatic, team-based, process-focused solutions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Manage production departments. Plan, organize, direct, and control day-to-day operations to achieve production schedule. Manage production schedules to meet order requirements while optimizing efficiency. Manage team to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals. Interface with Quality, Supply Chain, HR and other functions to achieve department goals. Develop and implement initiatives to improve production and financial performance. Lead the department by developing, managing, and sustaining a culture of safety adherence, product quality compliance, operator training, subordinate development, waste reduction, and machine maintenance. Contribute to operational success by sharing information through Gemba process and plant-wide best practices. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and managing workflow and staffing. Assure product quality by adherence to standard work and quality requirements. Maintain equipment operational effectiveness by coordinating maintenance and repair services, complying with manufacturer's instructions and procedures, and complying with standard work requirements. Implement department-specific plans aligned with strategic initiatives, providing clear direction and focus. Implement corrective actions based on root cause analysis techniques. Develop relationships of trust and respect within workgroup. Develop department staff. QUALIFICATIONS: This position is open to individuals who have worked within a manufacturing operation in a management capacity and have experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma principles. BS Degree in Engineering or a related field strongly preferred/ or at least 5 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment. Proven managerial experience. Adequate knowledge of production and management principles (budgeting, planning, resource allocation, and human resources). Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory control, machine maintenance practices. Computer literacy. Ability to create accountability and to lead by example. Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills. WORK APTITUDES: Accepts direction and takes responsibility for individual and team performance. Sets priorities in a dynamic environment of changing schedules and multiple requests. Solid problem-solving techniques, such as RCCM and DMAIC templates. Offers independent insight and initiative with little oversight and direction. Has a positive outlook and willingness to assume new assignments and additional duties.
