Director of SalesFortune 500 Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) CompanyPosition SummaryThe Director of Sales is responsible for leading regional sales strategy, driving revenue and gross profit growth, and developing high-performing sales teams to support both short- and long-term business objectives. This leader will oversee daily sales operations, coach and develop sales leadership, and partner cross-functionally to execute company initiatives and profit plans.The ideal candidate brings strong field sales leadership experience, a proven track record of delivering profitable growth, and the ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSales Leadership & Business GrowthDrive achievement of sales revenue and gross profit objectives across assigned regions and territories.Develop and execute strategic sales initiatives that support company growth and profitability goals.Generate consistent double-digit growth in sales and gross profit performance.Review and analyze sales performance metrics to establish goals, quotas, and performance benchmarks.Develop profit plan objectives and monitor actual results against forecasted plans.Analyze and manage expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.Team Leadership & Talent DevelopmentRecruit, interview, hire, train, coach, and develop Sales Managers and sales personnel.Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures for direct reports.Conduct formal Coaching and Maximizing Performance reviews at minimum twice annually.Document performance goals, evaluations, and development plans for all direct reports.Monitor onboarding and training effectiveness for newly hired sales associates.Motivate and inspire teams to consistently achieve company objectives and performance expectations.Operational & Strategic ManagementParticipate in the development and implementation of systems and processes that improve customer acquisition, sales effectiveness, and customer retention.Collaborate with senior leadership on company policies, budgeting, and long-range strategic planning.Monitor sales territories alongside Sales Managers to ensure territory optimization and performance execution.Partner effectively with internal departments to drive cross-functional alignment and execution.Compliance & Professional DevelopmentEnsure compliance with all company employment policies, procedures, and business conduct standards.Participate in ongoing leadership development, sales management training, and educational programs.Provide departmental overviews and support during sales training initiatives.Perform additional duties and strategic initiatives as assigned.QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.ExperienceMinimum of 10 years of progressive sales leadership experience within a sales-driven organization.Proven success leading and developing high-performing sales teams.Strong experience driving revenue growth and managing sales operations in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and hold teams accountable to performance expectations.Skills & CompetenciesExcellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning abilities.Ability to effectively lead across multiple teams, personalities, and business situations.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze performance metrics and implement action plans.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe successful candidate will be:A hands-on sales leader with a strong field presenceSkilled at building accountability cultures and developing talentComfortable operating in a dynamic, growth-oriented environmentCapable of balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day operational executionPassionate about coaching teams and driving continuous improvement
