The Multi-Domain Solutions (MDS) division is seeking a Senior Operations Technician to join our facilities team and take a lead role in the operation, maintenance, and repair of critical building systems. This position supports a large, complex facility and requires technical expertise in both mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, central plants, generators, power distribution, and building automation systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong troubleshooting skills and leadership capabilities to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operations.Primary Responsibilities:Operate, maintain, and repair critical infrastructure systems, including:Boilers, chillers, HVAC systemsElectrical distribution equipment (transformers, MCCs, UPS, substations)Pumps, generators, and power systemsBuilding automation systems (BAS)Monitor system performance using control panels, gauges, and BAS interfaces.Respond to alarms, breakdowns, and emergencies, implementing corrective actions swiftly.Analyze operational data to detect inefficiencies or early equipment degradation.Perform both scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled corrective repairs.Lead and guide Junior Operations Technicians in daily tasks and troubleshooting.Maintain documentation for inspections, repairs, and operational logs.Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards.Coordinate with cross-functional departments during equipment outages and emergencies.Basic QualificationsTS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is requiredMust be available to work night shifts as part of the regular schedule.High school diploma or equivalent.2-3 years of hands-on experience in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, cooling systems, and electrical wiring.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, chassis charts, and diagnostic tools.Skilled in using standard hand and power tools for disassembly and reassembly of mechanical systems.Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance, including brake adjustments, valve grinding, and light alignments.Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to ensure safe work practices.Preferred QualificationsExperience leading or mentoring junior technicians or overseeing shop operations.Strong background in quality control practices, energy efficiency improvements, and safety assurance.Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or diagnostic software.Experience conducting vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT or local regulatory standards.Knowledge of technical specification development and parts procurement processes.Project management experience related to equipment maintenance or fleet upgrades.EPA Section 609 certification for refrigerant handling (for work involving vehicle air conditioning systems).At Leidos, we don't want someone who "fits the mold"-we want someone who melts it down and builds something better.
