This position requires a daily commute to our Sterling, VA officeThe Bookkeeper reports to the Operations Manager and works closely with our accounting team to create and analyze financial statements, ensure legal requirements and compliance, process accounts payable and receivable, and manage invoices and tax payments. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills and accuracy are important qualifications for this position, as well as good customer relations and the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and is committed to consistently meeting deadlines. ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibility for actively tracking, recording, and reporting on all accounts receivable and accounts payable in a high-volume environmentPrepare and complete bank depositsMatch purchase orders with invoicesReceive, review, and post vendor invoicesPay vendor invoices on or ahead of time and track bank account balancesCommunicate with vendors and subcontractors both verbally and in writingPrepare financial schedules and reports as requested by managementAssist in processing biweekly payroll and subcontractor paymentsAssist accountants with preparing tax returnsMaintain and balance general ledgerDevelop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements and balance sheetsPrepare and present written and verbal reports to senior management on a weekly basisComply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions Minimum RequirementsAssociate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related disciplineMinimum of two years responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience in a small business environment including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and financial reportsAt least two years' experience with QuickBooks Online softwareProficiency in Microsoft ExcelKnowledge of regulatory requirements of processing payroll accounting transactions and payroll returnsAbility to multitask and maintain a professional demeanorProven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records accuratelyExcellent communication skills in English, both written and verbalAbility to pass a basic criminal background check and basic accounting skills test Preferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related fieldFive years' experience working in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and payroll reportsExperience with common payroll service software Compensation and Benefits PackageCompetitive salary, based on experiencePaid time off and paid holidaysMedical, vision, and dental insurance plans401k with company matchEmployee Rewards ProgramEmployee Purchase PlanA career path toward leadership roles Compensation RateLocationSight & Sound Systems Headquarters DivisionSight and Sound Systems, Inc.
