About The RoleShipcom Wireless IoT is looking for an analytical, results-driven Back-end Developer who will work with team members to design, build and improve back-end applications for our line-up of IoT solutions.This seasoned individual will use his or her understanding of programming languages and tools to analyze current code bases and industry developments, formulate efficient processes, solve problems, and create a more seamless experience for users.As a Back-end Developer, you will continually improve the reliability, performance, observability, and efficiency of the business logic and API layers that power Shipcom’s IoT platform. You must have knowledge in all stages of software development and will be working alongside other engineers and developers to collaborate on the various layers of the application infrastructure. Given Shipcom’s progress in the IoT division, we expect you to grow quickly; as a technical leader on the team, you will drive the design and development of end-to-end features that are core to the product experience.This is a unique opportunity to join a small team and have a large impact across different sides of the business as it advances quickly to meet customer demand. As an integral member on the team, you will have a massive impact on our product’s success.What You’ll Be Responsible ForArchitect, design and develop software and tools for managing complex business workflowsDefining and developing APIs and integration strategy of the product with other 3rd party applications and platformsIdentify architectural risks and plans to mitigateCollaborating with the front-end developers, DBAs and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance the user experienceDesigning, developing and integrating with web APIsCompiling and analyzing data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problemsIdentifying opportunities to improve efficiency and optimize performanceEnsuring cross-platform optimization for web and mobile devicesUnderstanding and implementation of security and data protectionStaying abreast of developments in web applications and programming languagesPossess ability to stick to timelines and measure progress during developmentExpected Skills/QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering. Master’s degree preferred7+ years of applicable experience in enterprise software developmentSignificant experience building high-performance and scalable systemsStrong proficiency with run-time environments such as Node.js and ASP.NETProficiency with server-side languages such as .Net, C#, Python and PHPWorking knowledge on IoT strategy, standards, protocolsProficiency with database technology such as SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB or othersFamiliarity with JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as Angular JS, React, Amber, Three.js and Babylon.jsFamiliarity with front end languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScriptExperience with deploying software on cloud platforms such as Azure and AWSKnowledge of code versioning tools and CI/CDFamiliarity with Agile Scrum methodology is requiredStrong organizational and project management skills, with an ability to multitask across teams, projects, and prioritiesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)Desire for creating value for the customer through innovation and problem-solving skillsBeing passionate about what you do and a get-things-done attitude to make your product and team successfulJob Type: Full TimeJob Location: Houston Shipcom HQ
