2026-27 Athletic Trainer

Athletic TrainerResponsible for providing care and prevention of athletic injuries including therapeutic rehabilitation of injured athletes to allow for the least amount of loss of competition while keeping the mental and physical welfare of the athlete as the top priorityEducation/Certification: Bachelor's Degree, required Licensed by the Texas Board of Athletic Trainers, required Certification, National Athletic Trainer's Association, preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills: Ability to provide first aide, CPR and to assess physical injuries of athletesExperience: Clinical/professional experience in related field, preferredWorking Days: 207Daily Rate pay range: Minimum: $ 332.86 Maximum: $ 464.40 Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.Major Responsibilities and Duties/Essential Functions:Treat and/or supervise the treatment of athletic injuries and conditions.Assist at games and practices as determined by the athletic coordinator and/or athletic director.Assist and advise the coaching staff and athletes regarding conditioning programs and the selection, care and fitting of protective equipment.Supervise the training room open as needed.Report all injuries to the athletic coordinator's office.Refer athletic injuries to physician, as appropriate.Develop and supervise appropriate treatment and rehabilitation programs for the injured athlete under the direction of a physician.Maintain records and facilitate physicals, acknowledgment of rules forms, insurance claims, medical bill and other required documentation.Give aid to injured athletes from opposing teams when that team is not accompanied by a trainer.Recruit, train, direct and supervise student trainers.Maintain budgetary records and requisitions, organize and inventory training room supplies.Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise student trainersEquipment Used: Computer, copier, adding machine, fax machine, multimedia equipmentWorking Conditions:Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures and data; coordinate projects and activities; maintain emotional control under stressPhysical Demands/Environmental Factors: Lift and move equipment and/or injured students as needed; extended exposure to varied weather; contact with blood
