Law Clerk I - Remote, Washington, DCDuration: 12 monthsDay-to-day Responsibilities:Work under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor.Perform complex legal research for trial staff.Assist in preparing draft legal documents and review documents for relevance and privilege.Assess and analyze relevant policy, program, and legislative initiatives.Develop understanding of applicable federal, state, or local laws.Oversee practice areas including immigration, civil, and criminal law.Support Attorney Advisors by briefing attorneys on pertinent facts and case law.Draft correspondence and legal documents for attorney's signature.Required Skills:Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research resources.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Familiarity with legal research tools like LEXIS and Westlaw.Hands-on familiarity with computer applications, including word processing and databases.Knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.Minimum two (2) years of professional litigation work experienceProficient in Microsoft Office applicationsWorking knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil and Criminal ProcedureEducation:Law degree (J.D.), License by a state bar (Preferred)
