Performance Contracting Group (PCG) is seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) / Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this dual role, you will administer, secure, and optimize our SQL Server database environment while designing, implementing, and managing the data architecture that supports our organization's data strategy. You will collaborate with various departments to ensure database performance, availability, and data integrity, optimize data pipelines, and drive efficient data solutions using SQL Server, Azure, and other technologies. As the industry adapts to AI, you will help PCG capitalize on the native AI capabilities in SQL Server 2025—including the vector data type, semantic (vector) search, in-database embedding generation, and external AI model integration—to build modern, AI-ready data solutions.
Key Responsibilities Database Administration
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server instances across production, test, and development environments, automating patching and routine maintenance.
Implement and maintain backup, recovery, high-availability, and disaster-recovery solutions (e.g., Always On Availability Groups, clustering, and replication) to safeguard data availability and business continuity.
Monitor database health and performance, and conduct query tuning, indexing, and capacity planning to ensure optimal performance.
Manage database security, including user access, roles, permissions, and compliance with data governance standards.
Data Architecture and Management

Integrate data from multiple sources and partner with cross-functional teams to build comprehensive solutions that meet stakeholder needs.
Azure, SQL, and AI
Utilize Azure services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database) and SQL to build scalable data solutions and optimize data models.
Ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Leverage SQL Server 2025's native AI features—the vector data type, DiskANN vector/semantic search, built-in embedding generation, and external AI model integration to deliver AI-ready, RAG-enabled data solutions.
Continuous Improvement
Stay current with emerging trends and technologies—particularly the rapid adoption of AI and machine learning across the SQL Server and Azure ecosystems—and apply best practices in data engineering.
Recommend innovative solutions to improve system efficiency and performance.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience (5+ years) in SQL Server database administration and data engineering.
Hands-on experience administering SQL Server, including installation, backup and recovery, high availability, security, and performance tuning.
Strong understanding of SQL, Database Architecture, data analysis principles, data modeling, and ETL processes.
