Director of Singapore Math

The Director of Singapore Math provides visionary leadership for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a K–8 Singapore Math program that integrates Japanese Lesson Study to promote best practices. This leader ensures excellence in mathematics instruction by developing teachers, strengthening curriculum systems, and building a culture of deep conceptual understanding, collaborative practice, and measurable student achievement. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $110,000–$125,000. Generous benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 403b retirement plan, and 8 weeks of vacation per year. Core Purpose To establish a high-performing mathematics program combining: Singapore Math’s Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) framework. Japanese Lesson Study’s research-based instructional improvement cycle. Strategic leadership, coaching, and data analysis to ensure exceptional outcomes for all students. Responsibilities Design and oversee K–8 Singapore Math implementation. Establish vision, benchmarks, and long-term strategic goals for mathematics excellence. Align curriculum, instructional resources, pacing guides, and assessments with Singapore Math methodology. Ensure coherence across grade levels for skill progression and conceptual mastery. Lead mathematics innovation initiatives and continuous improvement planning. Japanese Lesson Study Leadership Build and manage a school wide Lesson Study model for mathematics instruction. Lead the teachers through recurring Lesson Study cycles: goal setting; research lesson planning; classroom observation; reflective analysis; revision and reteaching. Train school leaders and teachers in Lesson Study protocols. Establish systems for documenting and scaling effective instructional practices. Instructional Coaching & Teacher Development Supervise and coach math teachers and instructional leaders. Provide demonstration lessons and strategic feedback. Lead professional development of Singapore math pedagogy; CPA progression; number bonds; bar modeling; mathematical discourse; problem-solving strategies; lesson study implementation. Student Achievement & Data Systems Develop assessment systems to monitor conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. Analyze school wide data trends to adjust instructional priorities. Design interventions and enrichment structures for all learners. Oversee math competitions, enrichment opportunities, and acceleration pathways. Additional Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education, mathematics, or related subjects 5+ years of successful K–8 mathematics teaching experience 3+ years of instructional leadership or coaching experience Deep expertise in Singapore math methodology Proven experience leading adult professional development.
