Senior Simulation Engineer
Overview
In this role, you will build and maintain closed-loop spacecraft test platforms to validate satellite bus performance. You’ll shape simulation environments (6DOF, SITL, HITL) and work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable operation of Apex’s spacecraft platforms. Your work will drive robust testing, modeling, and data-driven improvements that underpin mission success. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role with a clear impact on scaling aerospace simulations and enabling reliable space systems.

ResponsibilitiesOwn closed-loop spacecraft simulation platforms from design to deploymentDevelop and maintain core simulation capabilities (scheduling, data routing, diagnostics, configuration, Monte Carlo)Develop and maintain simulation models, emulators, and hardware/software interfaces with units under testCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements and execute testsAnalyze test data, identify trends, and generate insights for improvementsDevelop tools to automate simulation workflows, data analysis, and test reportingDebug complex closed-loop interactions between units under test and simulationHelp shape long-term technical architecture and roadmap for simulation platforms
Key requirements8+ years of experience developing closed-loop simulation tools (6DOF, SITL, PITL, HITL)Strong proficiency in C/C++, Rust, PythonComfortable in Linux environmentsExperience with testing frameworks, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and agile developmentExperience designing, implementing, and validating physics-based simulation modelsExperience emulating and integrating virtual sensors/actuators/test equipment with interfacesExperience with data analysis, automation tools, and pipeline developmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication; independent and fast-paced deliverycommunicationindependenceattention to detailC/C++PythonRust
