ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
Latino Network’s mission is to provide transformative opportunities, services, and advocacy for the education, leadership, and civic engagement of our youth, families, and communities. Our work springs from the core belief in Latino community self-determination that is, the ability of community members to participate meaningfully in the decisions that affect their lives and the lives of their families. We actively partner across a variety of city, county, state, and community organizations to deliver training and support, a wide range of services, as well as influence policy.
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
LNAF seeks a bilingual (English/Spanish) community centered individual with bi-cultural proficiency to do direct voter engagement and outreach in the city of Portland and outside surrounding Portland-metro areas. We aim to help elect progressive, values-aligned candidates at all levels of government. The top responsibilities include door to door canvassing, phone banking, and helping at community events such as ballot assistance.
This is a temporary, part-time position up to 25 hours a week until after the November election. This position requires working long hours, 4-6 hours walking or screen time. Weekend, evening work, and reliable transportation is also required in the duration of this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports Managing Director and Lead Organizer in accomplishing outreach, ID, and data collection goals.
Takes part in phone banks, digital events, textbanks, canvasses.
Engage strangers in conversation by going door to door.
Travel to assigned geographic territory and working in all weather conditions.
Achieve the daily contact and engagement goals as assigned.
Attends all mandatory onboarding and other training.
Works cross-culturally with other organizations to meet overall field goals.
Requirements:

Related unpaid or paid advocacy, political and organizing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
English and Spanish Bilingual proficiency required, ability to converse with staff and community members.
Ability to connect and communicate with interpersonally with various groups of people.
Ability to build trust within relationships and keep information confidential.
Must be able to travel to the Latino Network main office, canvassing sites across Multnomah County, and other meet up spaces
Takes initiative and maintains proactive communication.
Ability to work weekends, late evenings, and flex work schedule as needed.
Excellent time management skills.
Not required but preferred knowledge using EveryAction and Voter Action Network (VAN) and campaign software such as ThruTalk, and VPB.
