Hourly Rate: $19.95Job SummaryThis position is the individual on staff of the Canaveral Port Authority who assists in the execution of operating the Passenger Boarding Bridges that connect the Cruise Ship while in port. This position reports to the Parking Supervisor. The Canaveral Port Authority is a 24/7 operation: 365 days a year.Essential Functions Strong customer service approach when interacting with guests, cruise line customers, and Port visitors. Have a strong understanding of the operation of the PBB at assigned Cruise Terminals. Able to follow instructions from the PBB trainer, follow procedures daily. Ability to understand automated functions and processes of PBB and hydraulic gangways and be able to relay that information in both verbal and written form to management.Communicate via radio on Ch. 12 with Harbor Master for alignment of ship with gangway and wait for lines tight to attach GW.Work with Automation technicians and inform them of any issues that may arise daily.Monitor tides and weather throughout the day, checking with ship and terminal personnel for any changes in normal operations. Able to work varied schedules (Port of Calls) till after hours on occasion.Able to climb ladders attached to the exterior of the Gangways.Cooperate with departments as assigned to support events, functions or other accommodations.Sweep debris on GWs daily. Assist with the mopping of floors on rainy days to help avoid trip/slip and falls. Use floor signs as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent Bilingual is preferred Must be willing to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays and nighttime Port of Calls. Be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate information effectively Must be able to climb ladders and work at various heights above water. Ability to perform basic computer skills Must be 18 years old Licenses / Certification Required Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License or the ability to get a license within 30 days Able to secure a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Physical Requirement Must be able to work in all types of weather Physically able to stand for a long period of time Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
