Role Description The Mechanical Engineering Designer IV position represents a pivotal role within the engineering team, responsible for managing complex engineering projects from conception through completion. It requires a deep understanding of engineering principles and the ability to integrate multiple disciplines to deliver innovative solutions within their specialty area. They collaborate closely with clients and project stakeholders, ensuring alignment on objectives and delivering tailored engineering solutions that meet client needs. They oversee the preparation and review of project documentation, maintaining high quality standards and compliance with regulatory requirements and Performance Based Design principles. By mentoring junior engineers and promoting a collaborative team environment, they foster professional development while driving project success. Essential Functions Project Deliverables Develop high-quality engineering designs and specifications that align with project goals, regardless of complexity. Utilize expertise in engineering software like Revit and AutoCAD to enhance design accuracy and operational efficiency in complex projects. Lead advanced construction administration tasks such as RFIs and shop drawing reviews with minimal supervision. Establish documentation standards and procedures, ensuring all engineering deliverables are consistent, accurate, and aligned with Performance Based Design principles. Conduct analyses of project feasibility, performance metrics, and potential risks, delivering proactive insights for stakeholders. Prepare detailed reports and presentations that effectively communicate complex technical information, ensuring stakeholder understanding and engagement. Project Collaboration Provide technical expertise to engineering project teams, ensuring effective communication and integration toward solutions while collaborating with various disciplines and external consultants. Collaborate with Project Managers and Team Leads to develop comprehensive plans for large‑scale initiatives, defining scopes, schedules, and budgets while coordinating resources and stakeholders for successful execution. Engage clients throughout the project lifecycle to understand their needs and objectives, translating these into actionable design strategies. Proactively identify potential issues and collaborate with Project Managers to maintain project momentum by developing solutions for complex challenges. Cultivate strong relationships with clients with the purpose of fostering long‑term partnerships. Review and Compliance Own the review process of complex project documentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality assurance standards before submission. Utilize advanced knowledge of industry codes and standards throughout the project lifecycle. Lead engagements with clients and governing agencies for reviews, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations. Coordinate and lead field inspections to ensure construction aligns with design intent. Teamwork and Support Serve as technical SME for staff, providing guidance and solutions whenever needed. Participate and assist in leading ‘Lessons Learned’ sessions, sharing knowledge to enhance team skills and project outcomes. Collaborate closely with other senior engineers to develop skills and learn about advanced project challenges, managing issues as they arise. Actively mentor all engineer staff whenever opportunity arises.
