ABOUT THE POSITION340B Health assists safety net hospitals to provide services to more patients with low incomes and those living in rural areas by working to protect the federal 340B drug pricing program and its critical role of subsidizing the health care safety net.340B Health is recruiting a candidate to lead 340B Health Government Relations. The SVP for Government Relations reports directly to the CEO and manages a team of professionals and multiple retained consultants to achieve short and long-term goals to protect and promote 340B. This position involves continuously anticipating and assessing opportunities and threats and engaging appropriately on behalf of 340B Health and the hospitals we serve.The SVP will be a self-motivated and inspiring leader who is able to clearly articulate a vision and strategy, identify and align internal and external resources, and influence outcomes. The chosen candidate will be a skilled mentor who builds effective cross-functional teams and lifts and develops direct reports. This role requires a deep commitment to a member-first mindset with frequent engagement between the membership and 340B Health.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESIn partnership with the CEO and Leadership Team, develop long-term and short-term goals and establish plans for achieving such goals in areas of:Advocacy with Capitol Hill, the Administration, as well as assisting members with State advocacy and policy trackingEnsure strategic positioning of 340B Health by anticipating and assessing opportunities and threats impacting 340B, and developing proactive responsesMobilize members to achieve advocacy goalsOverseeing and ensuring strategic use of 340B Health's Political Action CommitteeManage four-person team and multiple retained consultantsManage, develop, and retain high-functioning staffCoordinate work, be responsible for the morale, and ensure that strong positive relationships are developed within other parts of the organization, members, and othersFoster training and professional development to ensure opportunity for individual career growthBuild and maintain relationships with public officials, legislative offices, hospital associations, industry partners, and thought leaders to build consensus, drive goals, and influence public discourseLead presentations, serve on panels, serve as spokesperson, and otherwise engage in public speaking to a wide range of internal and external audiences and eventsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESBachelor's degree required.12-15 years' experience. Combined related experience in government affairs, health, or public policyExperience managing a team of professionals and multiple retained consultants to achieve results on multiple issues, building collaboration both among members of the team, and with other departments within the organizationMaintenance of extensive bi-partisan contacts on Capitol Hill and within the Administration, especially in health care related departmentsUnderstanding of Political Action Committee management and fundraisingKeen understanding of stakeholder engagement and how to activate member advocacy to build movement on key issuesAvailable off hours for rapid response and crisis communicationsExcellent analytical and organizational skillsMust reside in MD/VA/DC metro areaExperience in hospital, pharmacy, and drug pricing a strong plusOTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION:Staff are currently required to work in the office a minimum of 3 days per week, Monday – Wednesday, and other days as needed.This is not negotiable.The description above is not intended to enumerate all duties and/or responsibilities of the position.Some travel required, including two conferences annually and several regional meetings with members.HOW TO APPLY:To apply please visit the 340B Health Career Center to access the online application process for this position.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:As a small staff organization, 340B Health supports a collaborative working environment and recognizes the importance of each position's value in meeting organizational goals. 340B Health offers an exceptional compensation package including health, dental, life insurance, disability insurance, paid time off, retirement plan matching, and more.
