Surgical Coordinator

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hourJob description:Job SummaryAs a key member of the staff, you provide critical support to our surgical patients. You are responsible for the administrative workflow related to patient surgeries including quoting, booking, pre-operative screening, medical clearance, booking cases with hospitals, orders medications/special equipment OR requests, etc.Our ValuesEmpathy - All communications (in-person, via email or via phone) are empathetic and solution-based. All decisions are always made in the patient’s best interest.Teamwork - Demonstrate respect for your peers by being on time, being kind, and sharing the workload as well as your expertise so everyone’s skills are enhanced.Innovation - Develop ideas to improve processes and services that drive efficiency and patient satisfaction.Results-Oriented - The patient experience, practice efficiency, billing accuracy, and timing impact revenue and allow us to assist more patients.Core CompetencesDetail Oriented: Enjoys the details of your work.Strong Communicator: Provides clear communication when writing or speaking.Empathetic: Demonstrates empathy in all actions and communications.Prioritize: Prioritizes tasks to ensure the highest level of patient care.Teamwork: Appreciates being part of a team and working together for common goals.Responsibilities and DutiesSchedule and coordinate patient appointments for office visits and surgery.Provide patients with pre-operative instructions and schedule all appropriate pre-operative tests, as directed by physicians.Manage insurance authorizations within the appropriate timeframe unless deemed urgent by Physicians.Ensure all required preoperative surgical paperwork, insurance, and demographic information is completed prior to scheduled procedures.Ensure all pretesting results and medical clearances are updated in the patient’s chart.Consistently communicate with patients on all elements of their surgery.Follow-up on all recommended surgeries and provide updates to physicians weekly.Review OR schedule with physicians weekly.Ensure all systems, and files both electronic and paper are updated timely.Facilitate communication between Physicians and various hospital departments.Partner with physicians to organize surgical calendars and ensure cases are booked appropriately.Check patients in and out and provide verbal and written information as requested.Complete financial transactions as appropriate.Participate in staff meetings as required.Qualifications / ExperienceMUST HAVE Surgical Coordinator Experience Required (3+ years)College Degree RequiredPreferred experience in a private medical practiceEMR utilizationNo Work RemotelyBenefits:Employee assistance programHealth insurancePaid time offRetirement planWork Location: In person
