As NASA's largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States.We have an exciting opportunity for a Geomicrobiology Laboratory Lead to join the JETSII Contract with Mb Solutions, a teammate company!The Geomicrobiology Laboratory Lead WillHelp sample and analyze microbiological communities inside the Astromaterials Collection CleanroomsGrow, isolate, and identify microbes from diverse locationsPerform high-throughput DNA extraction and sequencing of microbial communitiesAnalyze microbiome data from diverse environmentsOversee lab procedures and activitiesTrain lab personnel on lab procedures, instrument use, and sample handling techniquesMaintain laboratory documentation and prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for new lab processesSummarize and communicate results to project lead/manager and contribute to abstracts, presentations, peer reviewed journal articles, and grant proposalsSustain a safety-first laboratory culture with particular emphasis on chemical and biological safetyTake part regular domestic and international meetings (remotely and in-person) and teleconsPerform other duties as requiredRequisition QualificationsThis position has been posted at multiple levels. Experience using aseptic technique and working in a biosafety level 2 laboratoryExperience in the use of an array of molecular biology instrumentation, including modern sequencing equipment and quantitative- or digital-PCRMust have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skillsRequisition PreferencesMS degree from an accredited college or university in microbiology, biology, or associated technical discipline and three (3) years related experience, or a Ph.D. degree in microbiology, biology, or associated technical disciplineJob Posted by ApplicantPro
