CNC Setup Operator
Job Description
Position Summary
The CNC Setup Operator will set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines to produce high-quality machined components. The role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. This position is vital to ensuring on-time production while maintaining our standards for accuracy and quality.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and other machinery according to specifications.
* Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job orders.
* Monitor machine operation to ensure products meet quality standards.
* Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines.
* Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
* Maintain clean and safe work areas, following all company and OSHA safety protocols.
* Collaborate with the Shop Foreman and production team to meet daily production goals.
* Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or machining program preferred.
* 5+ years of experience operating CNC machinery in a manufacturing environment and programming experience
* Experience with machining fasteners or precision components is a plus.
Skills & Abilities
* Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
* Skilled in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Certifications (Preferred)
* CNC certification or machining program completion.
* OSHA 10/30 or other safety training.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
* Comfortable working in a shop environment with noise and machinery.
