JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.Job Summary -- Essential Functions/DutiesThe Computer Scientist II provides mid‐level software engineering support for the development, enhancement, and sustainment of systems that enable mission‐critical operations. This role requires strong foundational programming skills, the ability to work within established development workflows, and a commitment to producing reliable, maintainable, and secure software.Furthermore, the Computer Scientist II participates in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting. The position collaborates closely with senior engineers, cross‐functional teams, and technical leads to deliver high‐quality solutions that meet program objectives and comply with applicable cybersecurity and configuration‐management standards.Primary ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and maintain software components in support of program and customer requirementsImplement features using approved programming languages, frameworks, and development standardsParticipate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical design discussionsTroubleshoot and resolve software defects across the stackDevelop and maintain technical documentation, including design notes, API references, and workflow diagramsCollaborate with cross‐functional teams to integrate new capabilities and modernize existing systemsFollow secure coding practices and comply with federal cybersecurity requirementsSupport configuration management, version control, and release processesContribute to continuous improvement of development workflows and engineering best practicesCore Technical Skills (Required)Solid understanding of Object‐Oriented Programming (OOP) conceptsExperience with at least one major programming language (Java, C#, Python, or similar)Basic familiarity with Git (cloning, branching, committing, pull requests)Understanding of standard software development workflows, including IDE usage, debugging, and build processesTechnical Skills (Desired)Hands‐on Java development experienceExposure to Angular, TypeScript, Node.js, or other modern frontend frameworksBasic Docker knowledge or willingness to learn containerizationFamiliarity with RESTful APIs and service‐oriented architecturesUnderstanding of SQL and foundational database conceptsExperience working in Agile or hybrid development environmentsFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.)Desired QualificationsExperience developing software for government or defense programsKnowledge of secure coding standards and cybersecurity compliance requirementsStrong analytical, debugging, and problem‐solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative engineering teamRequirements -- Education, Technical, and Work ExperienceA bachelor's degree in an associated discipline and either two years of related experience or a master's degree in an associated discipline are required for this position.In addition, a Computer Scientist II must possess the following qualifications:Experience with computer-based systems and applicationsProgramming skills in languages used for job-specific programming tasksFamiliarity with the application of industry standard hardware and software design and documentation techniquesAbility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearanceMust be a U.S. citizenBenefits* Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance* Benefits Active on Day 1Life InsuranceHealth Savings Accounts/FSA'sDisability InsurancePaid Time Off401(k) Plan Options with Employer MatchJT4 will match 50%, up to an 8% contribution100% Immediate Vesting* Tuition ReimbursementOther ResponsibilitiesEach employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job.Working ConditionsWork is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards.
