Under direct supervision, the police officer trainee performs duties relating to the protection of University students, faculty, staff, personal and institution property through the enforcement of law and university rules.Duties and Responsibilities:Patrol assigned districts, watching for and investigating unusual activity or circumstancesCheck buildings for unsecured windows, doors, malfunctioning lights, fire hazards, dangerous conditions, and may occasionally guide new employees on patrol dutyRespond to radio calls or any crime violations in progress and report unusual incidentsCheck vehicle registration, individual's ID, and outstanding warrantsComplete reports such as incident reports, activity logs, and field interview cardsWalk perimeter of buildings and grounds to check for any suspicious activities and remains ate building until building is secure if found unlockedAssist tourist, motorist, faculty, staff and students, give directions to persons of location of campus buildings or departmentsPerform other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsMust be a high school graduate or GED approved by the State Department of Education, 21 years old, have a valid driver license with an insurable driving record and must not have been convicted of a felony, misdemeanor involving force, violence, or moral turpitude are required.
