Transportation Manager

The Transportation Manager is accountable for the management and compliance of the inbound / outbound transportation and logistics service provider network for XTG North America, and for ensuring that all shipments are handled quickly, safely, and within budget constraints. This role will also support global operations as needed.This position will interface and collaborate with all applicable internal and external stakeholders to assure optimization of XTG transportation and logistics activities, assuring utmost process discipline and quality of output with regard to applicable rules, regulations, and reporting requirements. The Transportation Manager supports the development and implementation of customs compliance and FTZ processes to assure XTG is compliant with all applicable rules, regulations, and administrative reporting requirements for all countries where XTG sources, imports, exports, or distributes its products. Approximate 5% travel is required.The Exponential Technology Group (XTG) is a specialist in the electronic component distribution and design engineering services industries. This position can be on-site / hybrid or remote position with the ideal candidate located in the DFW, TX or San Jose, CA areas.ACCOUNTABILITIES:Carrier / service provider management which may include, but is not limited to, Quarterly Business Reviews, familiarity with shipment options, legal issues, government regulations including dangerous goods and hazardous materials shipping, safety procedures, as well as service provider computer systems and applications.Compliance with policies and procedures for transportation operations, shipment coordination and routing, shipping documentation including Shipper's Letter of Instruction, and researching and correcting customer shipment issues and requests to ensure that customer goods flow smoothly through the supply chain to the end user.Work with local Operations managers to manage air and ocean freight forwarding, surface transportation, reverse logistics, and supply chain solutions.Provide support for import / export compliance activities, and leadership of tactical and strategic initiatives to deliver ongoing continuous improvement in transportation / logistics quality, cost, and timing results.Review transportation financial reporting and ensure shipping metrics and key performance indicators are maintained and published as required.Review financial reporting associated with tariff and duty charges and work with each XTG business to make sure these charges were expected and are correct.Interfacing with local XTG Operations Managers and business leaders to resolve transportation issues / inquiries, setting-up Customer Routing Guides, maintaining Transportation Department Intranet page and dashboards.Complete annual "optimization" modeling of XTG global supply chain to identify areas of continuous improvement and cost containment for presentation to and consideration by XTG management team, including Requests for Quote.Monitor and proactively engages all carrier / service provider services to assure on time, damage free, and correctly invoiced delivery of XTG inbound & outbound shipments.Work with XTG leadership to manage carrier / service provider contracts and negotiates rates based on annual volume; manages carrier selection process for XTG to assure best overall value and continuous improvement of all related quality, cost, and timing results measured by year-on-year improvement. Specific duties relative to carrier / service provider management include analyzing and reporting carrier / service provider delivery performance; supporting accurate and timely processing of all carrier / service provider invoicing; managing all carrier / service provider performance results including over/short/damage claims, on-time delivery, and special services as required; and managing all special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required.Work with FTZ/local warehouse Operations Manager as needed to support strategic development and tactical execution of all FTZ activities within the zone assuring overall compliance with all applicable requirements from US Customs and Border Protection and Other Government Agencies as appropriate.Conduct various transportation research and analysis projects and related weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting requirements.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEBachelors Degree (or equivalent) in Transportation, Logistics, International Business, or Business Administration is required; three to five years of experience working in related fields within an international manufacturing, freight forwarding or distribution related environment.SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONSIn-depth knowledge of domestic and international transportation, global supply chain planning and execution, and physical distribution center operations.Data base management, statistics, mathematical and financial analysis.Knowledge of transportation governance, international shipping documentation, trade compliance, duty drawback, and familiarity with foreign trade zones.Working knowledge of purchasing, inventory planning, and MRP.Demonstrated leadership and project management skills and process thinking.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams.Good oral and written communication skills, interaction, and presentation skills.Multi-lingual communication skills helpful.Strong problem solving, analytical, and attention to detail skills.Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills.Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize daily work assignments.Demonstrated positive attitude and teamwork orientation.Dependable, flexible and focused orientation.Demonstrated ability to work in teams with a collaborative interpersonal style.Self-starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.High degree of integrity and honesty.Highly focused on business fundamentals: quality, cost and timing.Proactive and results oriented demeanor.Ability to work on own with minimal supervision.What we offer our team members:A great benefits package that includes (but is not limited to): Medical/ Dental/ Vision, 401(k)/Roth plan with matching, Healthcare Savings Accounts.Educational Assistance (Tuition Reimbursement).Ongoing training throughout your employment with opportunities to participate in professional and personal development programs.A strong focus on giving back to our communities through philanthropic opportunities.Great culture and opportunities for growth and advancement.This is a summary of the primary accountabilities and requirements for this position. Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
