We unapologetically center the leadership, experiences, and expertise of targeted communities.The RoleWe are seeking a part-time (20 hr/wk) Intelligence Program Manager to help guide, coordinate, and conduct Open Shadows’ research and intelligence initiatives. Working in close collaboration with the Executive Director and Director of Project WATCHMEN, this role will balance two responsibilities: (1) conducting open-source intelligence (OSINT) and investigative research directly, and (2) helping organize and support OSIRIS (the Open Shadows Intelligence, Research & Interventions Service) volunteers.This is a start-up style program: fast-moving, experimental, and deeply mission-driven. The Program Manager will join at a formative stage, helping shape systems and practices that will grow with the organization. The role offers a unique opportunity to build something new from the ground up, develop leadership experience, and be at the forefront of reimagining intelligence as a tool for community protection.What You'll DoConduct open-source intelligence and investigative research on extremist movements, authoritarian actors, and threats to at-risk communities.Partner with the Executive Director to set and refine research priorities across Open Shadows projects.Support and coordinate volunteer analysts within OSIRIS. Help to recruit new volunteers and increase volunteer engagement.Help develop and maintain workflows for intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination.Review research products to ensure accuracy, clarity, and ethical standards.Track progress across multiple projects and communicate updates to the Executive Director.Collaborate with the Community Engagement Lead to ensure research outputs are directly relevant to community needs.This role has the potential to manage future intelligence/research interns.Who We’re Looking ForExperience conducting open-source intelligence, investigative research, or related analytical work.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities at once.Engagement in social justice, grassroots movements, or community-based advocacy.Familiarity with issues related to extremism, authoritarianism, targeted violence, or state accountability.Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., political science, sociology, security studies) or equivalent lived experience.Experience with OSINT workflows, volunteer management, and/or research coordination.Lived experience connected to communities most impacted by extremism and authoritarianism.No one has the whole package.
