Safety Coordinator
Position Summary: Under direction of the Director of Safety, this individual will assist and/or perform Safety related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: organizational safety program and performance; organizational compliance with State and Federal regulations and Corporate policies; safety investigations, audits, inspections and assessments; safety statistics and trends; safety cost analysis; and safety training.Essential Functions:Assist the Director of Safety with the day-to-day operations of the Safety Department.Substitute for the Director during his absence.Administer recurrent safety training to drivers as needed.Administer recurrent training to administrative personnelComplete new employee orientation safety training for all employees.Administer road tests of applicantsAiding Independent Contractor (IC) in completing the IC information packet and any associated paperworkAid in qualifying ICs to lease on with Louisville Cartage including performing road tests.Assist with/or administer driver orientation as needed to include Company paperwork, drivers logs, CSA information, Crash reporting, Hazardous materials training and Defensive Driving.Assist with successful completion of all related audits including those conducted by state and federal regulatory agencies.Audit drivers logs, both paper logs and electronic logs for form and manner violations, falsifications, and other violations of the FMCSA regulations.Maintain driver files with regards to items that expire; CDL, Physical, Annual certificate of violations, Hazmat, etc.Collaborates with employees and management team to attain company goalsCustomarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgmentBe the designated after hours on call support person on a rotating ScheduleBecome proficient with all computer and internet programs used on a daily basis; EFS,JJ Keller, Geotab, Fleetlocate, Samsara, etc.Other Responsibilities:Performs other safety work-related duties as required to meet the safety and operational goals of the organization.Administrative tasks to include: issue fuel cards; issue express codes for payment of maintenance and/or other bills; aid the Director of Safety with management of Worker Compensations claims; audit driver vehicle inspections reports, other assigned duties.Perform inspections of warehouses with regard to OSHA regulationsPerform other OSHA inspections, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, fire hazards, etc. Education, Experience and Skills Required:18 months Transportation Safety experienceKnowledge of all applicable safety rules, regulations DOT, OSHA etc.Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departmentsMust have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government lawStrong organizational and analytical skillsAbility to organize and prioritize workMust have demonstrated proficiency in all Microsoft office products; power point, etc.
