Systems Development Engineer

Brooksource is hiring a Systems Development Engineer to supportthe design, development, and deployment of automation and controls systems used across client's facilities nationwide.This is a hands-on, technical role focused on PLC development, standardization, andcommissioning of material handling and automation systems. You’ll work closely with internalteams and external equipment vendors to build scalable, repeatable controls solutions that support the client's growing network.What You’ll Be Doing• Develop, maintain, and extend PLC code (Rockwell / Allen-Bradley) using Studio 5000,including Structured Text, ladder logic, and Add-On Instructions (AOIs)• Deploy and support standardized controls solutions on new and existing material handlingand automation systems• Troubleshoot PLC and control-level issues in the field and during commissioning• Collaborate with OEMs, integrators, and internal engineering teams to implement consistentcontrols standards• Support system launches and retrofits, including on-site commissioning and post-go-liveperformance validation• Create and maintain technical documentation (logic descriptions, diagrams, layouts,standards)• Help define performance expectations and validate system behavior during testing andstartupWhat They’re Looking For• 4+ years of experience in industrial controls, PLC development, or automationengineering• Hands-on experience with Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs and Studio 5000• Experience writing or modifying Structured Text and ladder logic• Background working with automation, manufacturing, material handling, robotics, orhigh-speed packaging systems• Comfort working in fast-paced environments and supporting systems in the field• Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate across teams and vendorsExperience with standardized PLC libraries, commissioning, or large-scale automation systems is a plus- but not required day one.Work Environment & Travel• Up to ~50% travel, project-based (regional/national)• When not traveling, work from a corporate office location• Candidates should live near - or be open to relocating near - an approved office• Highly hands-on and technical• Opportunity to work on systems deployed at scale• Ownership of real automation solutions from development through launch• Exposure to complex, multi-vendor engineering environments
