What We Need YOU To DoThe Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Materials and Waste Management (DMWM), working at our Central Office in downtown Columbus, Ohio.The employee must obtain registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training or Registered Environmental Health Specialist in accordance with Section 4736.10 of the Ohio Revised Code from Ohio Department of Health within six months of the initial data of employment. Failure to attain registration may result in dismissal. During any time within the six-month registration period, and prior to obtaining Registered Environmental Health Specialist-in-Training or Registered Environmental Health Specialist registration, the employee shall not engage in the practice of environmental health as defined by section 4736.01(E) of the Ohio Revised Code unless accompanied by a Registered Environmental Health Specialist.We knew you’d be stopping by.As DMWM’s newest environmental specialist, you will coordinate the process for development and review the division’s proposed and existing rules or policies in accordance with Ohio Revised Code (ORC) Section 119.You will compile all rules packages and reviews for completeness and adherence to Legislative Service Commission (LSC) guidance and requirements. You will coordinate with legal records, appropriate divisions, and agency staff to ensure that rule packages are available to the public by scheduling the preparation of rule packages, public notices, public hearings, and posting notices and rules on DMWM’s webpage.You are going to provide technical assistance to staff, health districts, the regulated community, and the public on Ohio’s solid waste, infectious waste, and construction and demolition debris programs.
