Stitch Fix, which was founded in 2011, is headquartered in San Francisco.About The RoleAs an Automation Maintenance Technician, you will serve as the on-site technical expert responsible for maintaining and supporting automated equipment and systems within the warehouse. You will execute preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex issues, and perform repairs to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.In this role, you will partner closely with operations to coordinate maintenance activities, support equipment inspections, and train operators. You’ll play a critical role in minimizing downtime, improving system performance, and driving continuous improvement across automation systems. We’re looking for a hands-on, solutions-oriented technician who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can operate with a high degree of ownership.Key ResponsibilitiesSafety & ComplianceFollow and champion all safety proceduresIdentify, address, and escalate safety risksMaintenance & TroubleshootingDiagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated systemsTroubleshoot using schematics, blueprints, and diagnostic toolsSupport equipment startup and respond to breakdowns with urgencyAutomation & ControlsUse controls software (e.g., Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Cognex) to diagnose and resolve complex issuesNavigate PLC systems and apply foundational programming and troubleshooting skillsPreventive MaintenanceExecute and continuously improve preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programsDrive reliability improvements and reduce equipment downtimeCMMS & DocumentationMaintain accurate work orders, repair history, and parts usage in CMMSEnsure timely and complete documentation of all maintenance activitiesCommunication & CollaborationPartner with operations and maintenance teams to coordinate work and prioritiesTrain operators on equipment use, changeovers, and basic maintenanceCommunicate equipment status, schedules, and issues clearlyContinuous ImprovementParticipate in cross-functional initiatives to improve equipment performanceLead or support root cause analysis (e.g., A3) and implement corrective actionsParts & Vendor CoordinationManage spare parts inventory and coordinate ordering to ensure availabilityWork with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and supportWe’re Excited About You Because…You have 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing packaging or material handling equipment, along with a 2-year technical degreeYou have 2+ years of experience working with PLCs, VFDs, and vision systems (Cognex preferred)You can independently plan, prioritize, and execute work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environmentYou bring a strong sense of ownership and initiative, proactively identifying and resolving equipment issuesYou are capable of serving as a technical resource on-site, supporting and guiding less experienced team members when neededYou’re flexible to support operations outside standard hours, including occasional evenings or weekendsYou’re proficient with tools such as Google Workspace or Microsoft OfficeYou are reliable, accountable, and follow through on commitmentsYou operate with integrity and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environmentCompensation And BenefitsThis role will receive a competitive salary and benefits. The salary for US-based employees hired into this role will be aligned with the range below, which includes our three geographic areas. A variety of factors are considered when determining someone’s compensation–including a candidate’s professional background, experience, location, and performance. In addition, the position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.
