About the Role
As the Camp & Events Lead, you’ll take a hands-on leadership role in delivering engaging, structured, and meaningful experiences for youth. You’ll supervise campers, mentor Game Masters, and ensure all programming is safe, smooth, and full of energy. From summer camps to monthly Parent Night Outs, you’ll be at the heart of it all—creating moments that matter.
Key Responsibilities
Lead camper groups, ensuring emotional and physical safety throughout programming
Supervise and mentor Game Masters and volunteers through active guidance and feedback
Facilitate physical games, obstacle courses, crafts, and themed activities
Manage logistics, transitions, and camper communication during camps and events
Communicate professionally with parents and caregivers as needed
Set up, lead, and clean up programming with a spirit of ownership and teamwork
Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to refine, develop, and grow camp and event offerings
Schedule & Commitment Requirements
This is a year-round position, with responsibilities aligned to school calendars and monthly events.
Summer Camps (June–August): Minimum of 8 full weeks availability, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
No School Day Camps: Available for at least two single-day camps per academic quarter (aligned with the Hillsboro School District calendar), 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Parent Night Out Events: Availability for at least two events per quarter, held on the 3rd Saturday of each month, from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
School Break Camps: Participation during Spring Break (March 23rd-27th) and Winter Break (one full week in December), Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
General Expectations:
Full attendance for the entire duration of each event
Early arrival for setup and remaining until full cleanup is completed
Come fully prepared, having reviewed materials and contributed ideas for program improvement
Consistent, reliable year-round availability—this is not a seasonal-only role
Note: Flexibility is required based on the Hillsboro School District calendar and evolving program needs. Schedules will be communicated in advance.
What You Bring
Experience or strong interest in child development, education, or youth programs
Confident leadership with the ability to guide peers and manage groups
Strong communication skills with both children and adults
Ability to think on your feet, stay calm under pressure, and create fun, engaging environments
Experience in behavior management, coaching, or facilitation
CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications
Background in early childhood education, recreation, or performance/theater
Experience working with neurodiverse youth or in inclusive program settings
