Position SummaryIn accordance with DHS protocols, the armed guard force is responsible for maintaining the overall security and integrity of the command. This includes protecting personnel, property, facilities, and critical assets. Officers provide access control services to ensure that unauthorized individuals, vehicles, or equipment are effectively deterred and denied entry or exit.This role is ideal for prior military and law enforcement professionals seeking to continue their service in a mission-critical environment. You will play a key role in safeguarding operations against threats such as theft, sabotage, civil disturbances, or other incidents that could disrupt continuity. Your experience, discipline, and situational awareness will directly contribute to maintaining a safe and secure facility.Pay Transparency/CompensationMadison, WI-Hourly Rate: $29.33/hrHealth and Welfare: $5.52/hrResponsibilitiesProvide professional armed security and access control servicesSafeguard government property, classified materials, and personnel within assigned areasMonitor and control entry and exit points to prevent unauthorized accessRespond decisively to alarms, emergencies, and suspicious activityApply prior training and judgment to identify and mitigate security risksEnforce all security regulations and report violationsMaintain a strong working knowledge of all post orders and assigned dutiesComplete clear, accurate, and timely incident reportsPerform heavy work, including exerting significant physical force when necessaryStand for extended periods, including 12-hour shiftsWork outdoors in varying weather conditions and extreme temperaturesNavigate uneven terrain, stairs, and ladders as neededOperate in high-noise and high-risk environments (e.g., machinery, vehicles, firearms)Use protective equipment, including respirators if requiredAvailability for extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidaysTravel may be requiredPerform other duties as assigned.QualificationsU.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent ResidentMinimum age of 21Possess a valid Social Security CardMinimum of two (2) years of armed security experience; ORMinimum of one (1) year of full-duty law enforcement experience with a recognized agency; ORMinimum of two (2) years of honorable service in any branch of the U.S. Armed ForcesDemonstrated proficiency with a handgun and ability to meet all certification standardsAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, including report writingFamiliarity with facility and/or vehicle security proceduresHigh School diploma or GED equivalentAbility to pass background investigation, drug screening, and physical examinationAbility to meet MRPT suitability requirementsPhysically capable of performing all essential job duties
