Manager, Software Engineering - Investment Systems

The Manager will be responsible for leading a skilled team of software developers in support of the firm's research, portfolio construction, model integration, and other investment functions. This person will work directly with the investment and IT teams to help shape the technology strategy and direction for the development and support of a variety of applications through the development and support of reusable architectural components and frameworks. This person will be expected to effectively manage people, including building and developing skilled teams, directing and motivating the teams at an appropriate level of detail, and ensuring a service oriented approach. In addition, this person will understand and help shape the future direction of the firms business and collaborate with the business leaders to ensure their needs are met. Responsibilities:Establish and enforce development standards; Facilitate periodic code reviewsProvide technology leadership to the firm by developing long-term goals and strategiesManage application development teams, including resource planning, staffing and recruiting activities; manage the performance and development of associates, including meeting with staff and supervisors regularly to understand needs and opportunities for growth and developmentWork collaboratively with business aligned and IT development teams to define, design, build, and support re-usable technology componentsEstablish and ensure consistent, quality architectural standards and practices; Keep abreast of industry trends and new technologiesParticipate or lead initiatives such as process refinement and improvement in project management or systems development Qualifications:7+ years' experience in managing IT, primarily in planning, development and support. Experience in related technology areas such as database, architecture or infrastructure are an advantagePrior experience supporting the investment function within the asset management industry is highly desiredStrong management skills with experience managing at least 10 direct and indirect employeesSolid technology skills in a broad range of .Net technology development toolsManagement experience in a medium to large, complex IT environmentsExperience with multi-platform technical environment and long term technology projectsAbility to collaborate with peers and business leadersStrong project and process management skills, including vendor management and software package implementationStrong project and process management skills, including vendor management and software package implementation #LI-DNP
