Sr. Business Analyst

Our client is a growing SaaS company headquartered in Houston. They are seeking a Business Analyst to serve as the critical link between client needs and their software engineering team. This is a highly collaborative role where you will spend significant time understanding how customers operate, identifying gaps and opportunities, and converting those findings into well-structured designs that development teams can execute against.Responsibilities• Engage directly with clients and internal stakeholders to map business processes, uncover challenges, and clarify goals• Observe end-user interactions with the platform to identify friction points and inefficiencies• Ask probing questions to surface root causes and edge cases beyond surface-level feature requests• Convert business needs into structured, clearly defined requirements• Articulate how features should function from both a user and system perspective• Balance client-driven requests against the constraints and logic of the existing platform• Produce functional design documentation that bridges product concepts and technical implementation• Document workflows, edge cases, and expected system behavior in a clear, repeatable format• Develop wireframes, mockups, or process flow diagrams as needed to support design decisions• Partner closely with developers to ensure requirements are complete, unambiguous, and ready for implementation• Decompose features into user stories or discrete work items• Remain available throughout the development cycle to clarify requirements and resolve open questions• Verify that delivered solutions align with intended functionality and user experience• Collaborate with QA to establish acceptance criteria and define test scenarios• Incorporate feedback loops and refine solutions iteratively as the product evolvesRequirements• Strong analytical mindset with demonstrated ability to solve complex workflow and systems problems• Experience engaging directly with customers or end users to gather and validate requirements• Ability to define and document solutions clearly without requiring deep technical expertise• Experience with the full SDLC, preferably at a SaaS or technology company.• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate effectively between business stakeholders and engineering teams• Experience producing detailed functional specifications• Familiarity with HR, payroll, or benefits platforms preferred• Background working within a software development environment preferred• Exposure to Agile or comparable iterative development methodologies preferred• Experience creating functional designs, process flows, wireframes, or mockups preferredDo not apply unless you are authorized to work in the United States for any employer as client company cannot sponsor or transfer visas at this time.Walker Elliott is an Equal Opportunity Employer.For additional information, please email your resume to resumes@walker-elliott.com or apply online.
