Intern - Design Eng.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform engineering calculations to determine strengths, loading, and failure modes.Create 3D models and 2D prints utilizing SolidWorks.Execute, with some guidance, the analysis and evaluation of engineering and manufacturing projects to ensure products meet design goals, are cost-effective, and are designed for manufacturability.Perform manufacturing design of experiments (DOE).Assist in manufacturing process development.Supervise the building of parts for testing.Assist in testing parts for product or manufacturing design changes and/or experiments.Document technical data generated for assigned projects.Qualifications & Experience Education:Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.Experience:Experience with CAD systems.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.Experience or demonstrated ability to solve problems.Lean / Six Sigma experience (preferred).Project management skills (preferred).Understanding of Six Sigma tools to make data-based recommendations and decisions (preferred).Lean / Six Sigma experience a plus.Project management skills.An understanding of Six Sigma tools to make data‐based recommendations and decisions.Skills:Ability to communicate, read, and write in English (Bilingual English/Spanish a plus).Strong communication skills, both oral and written (technical and non-technical).Ability to read and interpret technical specifications.Ability to read and work from blueprints and operator instructions.Technological proficiency, including relevant engineering tools.Strong leadership skills.Personal Attributes:Fosters teamwork within own department and across other departments.Embraces Continuous Improvement and actively participates as both a leader and contributor to Continuous Improvement objectives and Lean initiatives.Detail-oriented with strong documentation practices.Collaborative and proactive in supporting engineering and manufacturing efforts.Physical Requirements & Work EnvironmentProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Ability to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment, such as computers, calculators, printers, and copiers.Occasional lifting of office supplies or files up to 15-25 pounds.Adequate vision to read documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens.Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via email.Standard office environment with controlled climate (heating, cooling, lighting).Typically, a quiet and professional setting, conductive to focused work.May involve hybrid or remote work arrangements, depending on company policy.Occasional extended hours to weekend work may be required.Collaboration with cross-functional teams, requiring periodic meetings and interactions with other departments
