Draper - Speech Language Technician - 25-26 School Year

Job Summary:The Speech Language Technician will assist speech-language pathologists in the assessment and treatment of speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders, implement speech and language programs or activities as planned and directed by speech-language pathologists, and monitor the use of alternative communication devices and systems.Essential FunctionsImplements treatment plans or protocols as directed by speech-language pathologistsDocuments clients' progress toward meeting established treatment objectivesAssists speech-language pathologists in the remediation or development of speech and language skillsPerforms support duties such as preparing materials, keeping records, maintaining supplies, and scheduling activitiesCollects and compiles data to document clients' performance and to assess program qualitySelects and/or prepares speech-language instructional materialsAssists speech-language pathologists in the conduct of client screenings and assessments of language, voice, fluency, articulation, and hearingTests and maintains equipment to ensure performanceConducts in-service training sessions and family and community education programsPrepares charts, graphs, and other visual displays to communicate clients' performance informationAssists speech-language pathologists in the conduct of speech-language research projectsRequired Education and QualificationsBachelors Degree in qualifying majorFulfill the requirements of the USBE SLT licensing programExcellent listening and communication skillsStrong ability to recognize nuances in speechBasic understanding of the concepts of Speech Pathology Interactions with OthersInteracts positively with students, parents, staff, teachers, administration, and other district personnel. Provides encouragement and enthusiasm in daily interactions with colleagues, students and families. Adheres to the school communication policy of taking concerns or questions to the person most able to address them, according to the staff manual. Exhibits good character including honesty, assuming goodwill, positivity, diligence, and humility - quickly acknowledging errors and making appropriate amends.Working EnvironmentWork setting is primarily in an office or small classroom setting. May be assigned to multiple campuses, requiring travel. Travel between campuses is reimbursed at the federal mileage rate.Physical Requirements - Not limited to the following:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at timesHearing ability sufficient to evaluate student's speech and language Time & Effort Certification (TEC)
