General PlantReports To: Shift Business ManagerLocation: Grand Rapids (76th Street & US 131 area)Positions Available: Machine Operator, Inspector/Packer, Material Handler (Crane/Forklift/CombiLift), Saw/Rattunde Operator, and Vertical Mills.Position Responsibilities:Operation of a variety of machines ranging from operating overhead cranes to saws and forklifts. Responsibilities range from loading/unloading materials onto/off of machines, cutting and deburring tubing while ensuring a quality product. Ensure that the equipment is in a safe operating condition. Review the computerized work list for the equipment, locate the available material and prioritizes the orders to be processed. Communicates with the other operators to formulate the run order of material. Performs any necessary set-up during shift. Complete daily Operational and Safety Checklists.Required Education and Skills:High school education or equivalent is required, supplemented with technical college, vocational training, or coursework in machining. Previous manufacturing experience preferred. After training, must be able to operate a variety of industrial machines safely and efficiently. Ability to read and speak English is preferred. Mathematical skills equivalent to high school level including the ability to do decimals, fractions and averages required. Must be able to communicate, both in written and verbal form, effectively with supervisors and co-workers. Regular attendance at work and punctuality are essential job functions.Typical Physical Demands:Position requires frequent walking and/or standing on concrete floor or work platform while wearing steel-toed shoes. May walk up to two (2) miles per shift while performing essential duties.Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.May require unassisted lifting of a variety of objects from various positions, which range in weight from 5 to 50 pounds with an average weight of 34-37 pounds.Utilizes a variety of hand positions such as turning and twisting.Dealing with production workers as well as supervisors when working under the pressure of production deadlines or emergency situations can be stressful.Typical Working Conditions:Manufacturing area of the facility. The manufacturing environment has regular exposure to loud and prolonged noise. Regular exposure to hot temperatures of 80 F to 110 F in the summer due to the combination of the actual outside temperature and heat from the processes inside the facility. Employees are also exposed to cold temperatures, which is dependent on the actual outside temperature. While in the manufacturing area, employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, safety sleeves and steel toed work shoes.Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
