Job Summary
The manager of pharmacy position is responsible for the operation and management of the Pharmacy Department. In addition, the incumbent will plan, organize and implement company pharmacy policies and procedures in accordance with established policies of the company, in cooperation with other departments, and in accordance with accepted standards of good pharmacy practice.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for day to day operations, performance results, reporting, associate development and customer satisfaction.
Drive profitable pharmacy sales by ensuring a fast, accurate, and genuine interaction with our members and providers.
Uphold service standards for counseling, dispensing, pricing, licensing, and managing inventory and record keeping.
Ensure all work processes are performed efficiently and effectively at their location by performing quality assurance steps and providing coaching, training and honest feedback to team members if needed.
Works directly with their Pharmacy Supervisor or Director of Pharmacy Operation to set goals for the Pharmacy, reviews results and improves operations.
Execute common store process and implement new company initiatives.
Focuses team on business goals including sales, GDR usage, formulary usage, item count and utilizing customer service programs such as health reminder, web and phone refill requests, and outbound calling. Medication Adherence is crucial to patient’s health outcomes.
Participates in programs to provide community pharmacy services, such as health screenings, Comprehensive Medication Reviews (CMR’s), Medication Adherence, Disease management and Medication Therapy Management. Ensures resources are available as needed while maintaining core operation as per expectations above.
Practices pharmacy in compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations, as well as Cano Health’s policies
Provides leadership to the Pharmacy team and assists with the daily operations of the pharmacy department, recommendation including staffing, hiring, evaluating and training.
Oversees Pharmacy inventory management, quality control and gross profitability.
Oversees Pharmacy system (i.e. NRx) maintenance and up-keep.
Retail Sales (OTC) management, by ensuring appropriate inventory and profitability.
Ability to oversee and manage other associates within the department/pharmacy
Ensures customer satisfaction, maintains working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals
Reviews prescriptions issued by a physician or other authorized prescriber, to assure accuracy and determine the formulas and ingredients needed.
Directs pharmacy team engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling medications, inventory management, Robotics maintenance, systems updates, and other necessary functions.
Complies with all record keeping requirements for controlled substances
Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals
Instructs other health care professionals on matters pertaining to pharmacy
Reinforces sanitation, security and safety guidelines
Maintains good public relations, provides premier customer service with both members, patient interaction.

Other duties as necessary and assigned by the VP or Director of Pharmacy
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is responsible to oversee the Pharmacy Department, specifically the positions of pharmacists, interns, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers.
Education & Experience
Pharmacist with a FL license in good standing.
Management experience in a healthcare/hospital/retail environment.
Ability to solve problems, establish trust and credibility.
Deal effectively with change.
PharmD degree.
Five years of clinical experience.
Three years of supervisory experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
Certification to Administer Immunization/Vaccines
Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies
Demonstrate leadership skills.
Demonstrate organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficient in the use of spreadsheet and word-processing applications.
Ability to utilize distributor data for reviewing Division purchase trends
Functional working knowledge of hospital pharmacy activities, P T committee, and product management.
Ability to create enthusiasm for new programs and different approaches to existing programs.
Demonstrate quality improvement competencies.
Understanding of utilization and productivity in a variety of clinical settings.
Bilingual – English and Spanish verbal and written communication skills
Physical Requirements
This position works under usual office conditions. The employee is required to work at a personal computer as well as be on the phone for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand, sit, walk and occasionally climb. The incumbent must be able to work extended and flexible hours and weekends as needed. Physical demands include ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
