Director of Construction
OverviewTRC’s client, one of the fastest growing Data Center construction companies in the US, is looking for a Director of Construction to join their team in the Chicagoland market!This is a high impact, high visibility role offering significant upward mobility and long-term career growth.The Director provides leadership and hands-on project oversight for data center construction projects in the Chicagoland and other markets. This role is responsible for managing full building and campus-level projects, ensuring work is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all specifications and quality standards. The Director partners closely with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors while supporting overall market leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership support for the Southeast market and assigned projects
Lead data center campus and project teams across multiple job sites
Oversee day-to-day execution of individual buildings and full projects
Manage overall project budgets, schedules, and subcontractor performance
Coordinate subcontractors, consultants, vendors, materials, and equipment
Ensure compliance with contract scope, quality standards, and safety requirements
Monitor construction progress, identify conflicts, and drive timely resolution
Conduct jobsite walks, quality inspections, and punch list management
Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings
Maintain accurate daily jobsite logs and documentation
Coordinate required inspections with local authorities
Step in as Field Superintendent when needed across multiple sites
Ensure job sites remain safe, clean, and organized
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
Education & Experience
3+ years of construction experience required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Project)
Experience with Yardi, Procore, or Prolog preferred
Knowledge & Skills
Experience across Division 2–10 trades (concrete through finishes)
Strong blueprint and construction document interpretation skills
Ability to manage subcontractors and resolve performance issues
Strong understanding of jobsite safety, quality, and compliance standards
Ability to identify deficient work and drive corrective action
Capable of working on active job sites, including stairs and elevated structures
