DescriptionSalary Range: $66.57 - $84.92 plus applicable shift differentialJob SummaryAdministers routine respiratory therapy procedures to patients of all ages in all areas of the hospital, as prescribed by a physician and under the director of the Director. Performs other related duties as assigned, including EKG. In addition to performing the essential functions of the job, may also be assigned other duties as required.QualificationsEducation:High School graduate or equivalent required.Associate Degree from a recognized JRCRTE/AMA approved two (2) year Respiratory Therapy program.Bachelor Degree in Respiratory or related health sciences/healthcare preferred. Licensure: Valid CA Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License by the Respiratory Care Board of the State of CA.Certification: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA)Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) within 12 months of implementation of Respiratory Care Professional Development Career Ladder.Valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Heart Association (AHA) (not required for those who work exclusively in Pulmonary Rehab or PFT's)Valid Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) from AHA/AAP (not required for those who work exclusively in Pulmonary Rehab or PFT's)Actively credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist for the National Board of Respiratory Care or 5 years recent experience as a Respiratory Care practitioner at Washington Hospital.Work Experience for Respiratory Care Dept: Meets all RCP I, II, and III requirementsTwo (2) years of adult and neonatal critical care experience as a RCP III at WH, or five (5) years of adult and neonatal critical care experience as a RCP III if not actively credentialed as a "Registered Respiratory Therapist" from the National Board of Respiratory CareFive (5) years experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in a specialty area (Adult Critical Care, Pediatrics, Nenonates, ED, or Trauma)Serves as clinical resource for RCP I, II, and III'sSpecial Care Nursery as Primary RCPLeadICU/IMCICU ResourceED/TraumaMed/Surg UnitsOnc/Tele/Neuro/Ortho unitsPediatricsAdvanced Care, including but not limited to: intubation assist, artificial airway management, ventilator management, critical care transports, bedside brocnchoscopiesProficient in Respiratory Therapy driven protocols and strategies, including but not limited to: Flolan therapy, ICU Ventilator management and Weaning protocols, Bronchodilator protocol, Pediatric Asthma protocol, Lung Protection Strategies (ARDSnet)Precepts/Mentor and orientates new Respiratory Care PractitionersPerforms other related duties as assigned, including EKGCurrently employed a benefitted or 4/5ths employee in the Respiratory Dept at WHNo disciplinary actions over the past year Work Experience for Pulmonary Rehab/PFT Dept: Meets all RCP I and II requirementsTwo (2) years experience in both Pulmonary Rehab program at Washington Hospital and performing PFT's to include but not limited to: performing bio-testing on PFT machine and performing High Altitude Simulation Tests (HAST)Technical Knowledge: Understands patient's condition and changes in condition, by classifying the patient according to stability levels.Knowledge of normal and abnormal physiology related to the respiratory system.Understanding of the indications, appropriateness, contraindications, and side effects of various medications and treatment techniques.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to organize work, set priorities and perform detailed work.Preferred/Desired Qualifications:Bachelor's DegreeAdvanced Certification NPS, ACCS, CPFT, RPFT)
