Electrical Engineer
We are seeking an experienced PCB Design Engineer with proven expertise in designing complex multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs/PWBs) for military and aerospace applications. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge electronic systems requiring rigorous quality standards, advanced design techniques, and compliance with strict military specifications and standards.Position ResponsibilitiesDesign and layout multi-layer PCBs (up to 10 layers) using Altium Designer with focus on signal integrity, power distribution, and thermal managementDevelop PCB schematics and perform schematic-to-layout verification using design rule checking (DRC) and electrical rule checking (ERC)Create and manage PCB design files, layer stackups, and fabrication documentation meeting MIL-PRF-31032, IPC, and customer-specific requirementsCoordinate with electrical engineers to translate circuit schematics into manufacturable PCB designs optimized for high reliabilityPerform signal integrity and power integrity analysis to ensure performance in mission-critical applicationsDesign for manufacturability (DFM) optimization to reduce costs while maintaining military-grade quality standardsConduct design reviews, document design decisions, and create comprehensive design documentation for traceability and complianceManage PCB library development and maintenance including component footprints, symbols, and design standardsCollaborate with procurement, manufacturing, and test teams to resolve design-related issues and ensure first-pass successEvaluate and select appropriate PCB materials, finishes, and processes for specific military application requirementsEnsure designs comply with environmental testing requirements (vibration, thermal cycling, humidity, salt spray, etc.)Support prototyping, testing, and qualification phases with design modifications as neededMaintain configuration control and implement engineering change orders (ECOs) with full traceabilityRequired QualificationsMinimum 5+ years of hands-on PCB design experience using Altium DesignerExtensive experience designing PCBs or PWBs with 6-10 layers for military, aerospace, or defense applicationsDeep understanding of military standards and specifications including:MIL-PRF-31032 (Flexible Printed Wiring Boards)MIL-PRF-55110 (Printed Circuit Boards, General Specification)IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies)IPC-2221 (Generic Standard on Printed Board Design)IPC-6012 (Acceptability of Printed Boards)Proficiency in high-speed PCB design techniques (signal integrity, impedance control, layer stackup design)Experience with power distribution network (PDN) design and analysisKnowledge of thermal management in PCB design (thermal vias, heat spreaders, layer placement)Strong understanding of manufacturing constraints and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principlesExperience with controlled impedance design and differential pair routingFamiliarity with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) considerationsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, datasheets, and military documentationExperience with PCB fabrication processes, assembly methods, and quality control standardsExcellent attention to detail and ability to maintain strict documentation and configuration controlStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teamsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
