Speech/Language Pathologist

Speech/Language PathologistQualifications: Master's degree in the area of speech-language pathology, certification in communication disorders including a Kentucky license issued by the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and AudiologyReports To: Director Special Education ServicesJob Goal: To provide speech/language services to all children who are diagnosed with communication disorders, within the Boone County Schools.Performance Responsibilities:Screen and assess children and youth for suspected communication disorders, to include hearing screeningConsult and collaborate with other team members according to child/youth's needsAssist in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP)Monitor Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives as they relate to communication disordersServe as a resource for identifying and procuring augmentative communication devices and communication prostheses as neededAssist in home visits when appropriateDiagnose speech/language delays/disorders of children or youthEvaluate on a regular basis through classroom and full staff meetings, strengths and weaknesses of the programConsult and/or collaborate with classroom and special education teachers in regard to appropriate learning environment for children and youth with communication disordersCommunicate with parents and interpret the communication disorders programModel mature and professional behavior for children, staff, and familiesMaintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and follow established program policies and proceduresMaintain accurate and complete records and safeguard their confidentiality, as required by law, District policy and administrative procedureParticipate in in-service education activities provided by the District and other self-elected professional growth activitiesPrepare reports and forms required by law, District policy and administrative procedureMaintain a professional awareness of current literature related to assignment, including a working knowledge of federal and state law, District policy and administrative regulationsParticipate in Student Intervention Team (SIT) and Admission and Release Committee (ARC) meeting with children and youthPerform other duties consistent with the position as may be requested by the supervisorTerms of Employment: Salary 6.75 hours per day 33.75 hours per week 187 days 9 months Board approved 7-16-98, Revised 9-11-08
