Packaging Engineer

JOB TITLE: Packaging Engineer/Sourcing Specialist DEPARTMENT: Operations SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday Hybrid (3 days in the office) REPORT TO: COO JOB SUMMARY: Support new product development and sourcing initiatives within the personal care category, including conditions, soaps, and aerosol-based products. This role plays a key part in managing packaging specifications, coordinating supplier interactions, and ensuring successful new product introductions (NPI) for our customers.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Review, interpret, and validate technical specifications for packaging components, including bottles, closures, labels, and aerosol systems Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, operations, quality, and sales teams to support new product development and launches Manage packaging aspects of new product introductions (NPI), ensuring timelines, specifications, and cost targets are met Source and engage suppliers for packaging components; request and evaluate quotes, samples, and lead times Develop and maintain cost estimates and pricing comparisons for packaging materials Ensure packaging meets customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing capabilities Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative materials without compromising quality or performance Support troubleshooting of packaging-related issues during development and production Maintain accurate documentation of specifications, supplier communications, and project updates Perform all other duties as assigned.SKILLS, ABILITIES and EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 2–5+ years of experience in packaging, sourcing, or a related role within manufacturing (personal care, cosmetics, or CPG preferred) Experience with aerosol packaging systems strongly preferred Ability to read and evaluate technical drawings and packaging specifications Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Excellent communication skills for supplier and cross-functional collaboration Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost analysisPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:Primarily sedentary work; ability to sit for extended periods with periodic standing/walking. Frequent use of computer, keyboard, and phone; repetitive hand/wrist motions. Ability to read, review, and interpret printed and digital documents/specifications. Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and via email/virtual meetings. Occasional lifting/moving of samples/materials up to 25 lbs.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
