Patient Services Representative

DescriptionResponsible for the coordination of patient check-in and facilitates financial assistance in the collection of patients accounts receivable. Responsible for demographic entry, confirms verification of medical insurance and collects patient portion of charges.Verifies new patient insurance coverage and demographics. Ensures proper referral is in place for scheduled visit or treatment. Ensures at time of pre-registration that patient has active insurance coverage and performs review of benefits with patient at first of appointment.Collects new patient information and enters into appropriate systems (EMR, Centricity, etc.) Ensures under-insured and/or uninsured patients are approved by the treating physician.Understands basic financial counseling and qualifications for state and federal assistance programs (ie, Medicaid). Identifies and makes referral/recommendation for an appointment with Financial Counselor for detailed financial counseling and assistance.Collects patients co-payment, co-insurance and other patient balances.Secures and closes end of day deposits and transfers monies to Reimbursement Support.Prepares daily clinic schedule and enters in all scheduled patients and add-ons.Performs other duties as assigned.High school degree or equivalent with a minimum of two years experience in insurance verification, referrals, medical collections, billing and customer service. 1 2 years experience in medical billing software and have the ability to balance and close cash drawer.Excellent customer service skills requiredExcellent Oral and written communication skills are required.Good organizational skillsFax, printer and copier expertise
