As an Entry-Level Field Service Technician, you’ll gain real-world experience working on the critical infrastructure that keeps utilities, data centers, and industrial facilities powered and running safely.This is a field-based, travel role designed for motivated technicians who want to learn, grow, and develop into senior or leadership-level positions in electrical testing and commissioning.What You’ll Learn & DoYou’ll work alongside experienced technicians while supporting maintenance testing, acceptance testing, and commissioning of electrical power equipment in substations and industrial environments.Key Responsibilities IncludeAssist with mechanical and electrical work on power transmission, distribution, and generation equipmentLearn to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manualsSupport troubleshooting, repair, cleaning, and replacement of substation componentsAssist with testing of:Transformers (power factor, TTR, insulation resistance, winding resistance, and more)Cables (insulation resistance, hipot, tan delta, TDR, partial discharge)Circuit breakers (timing, contact resistance, insulation resistance, SF6 analysis, CT testing)Support maintenance testing, acceptance testing, and commissioning activities on customer projectsApply and learn industry standards including NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and DOTParticipate in safety meetings and hands-on training—safety is a top priorityTravel with team members (and eventually independently) to project sites for multi-day assignmentsRespond to emergency service calls as part of a rotating on-call schedule (with training and support)Collaborate closely with senior technicians and project teams while building technical skillsWhat We’re Looking ForRequired / Ideal Background0–2+ years of experience in electrical, industrial, military, utility, or field service environmentsStrong interest in electrical power systems, substations, and field workBasic understanding of electrical principles and safety practicesComfort working with tools and technical equipmentAbility to read or willingness to learn how to read schematics and wiring diagramsWillingness to travel, work overtime, and support night or weekend work as projects requireEagerness to learn, take direction, and grow into more advanced responsibilitiesEducationAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Electronic Technology, or a related fieldOREquivalent military electrical or technical experienceNice To Have (Not Required)Exposure to substation equipment or electrical testingNETA-related experience or interest in pursuing NETA certificationExperience with industrial, utility, data center, or power-related environmentsExperience with electrical testing software (training provided)Why This Is a Great Entry-Level RoleHands-on training alongside experienced field techniciansClear career path into advanced technician and leadership rolesExposure to major industries including utilities and data centersWork that matters—supporting critical power infrastructureOpportunity to build highly marketable technical skills early in your careerWork Environment & BenefitsField-based role working in substations, power plants, and industrial facilitiesTypical schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with overtime as neededFrequent travel with overnight, multi-day assignmentsPer diem at federal rates for lodging and mealsCompany credit card for travel and work-related expensesOption for company vehicle with fuel card or personal vehicle stipend and fuel reimbursementComprehensive benefits including:Paid time off and paid holidaysHealth and retirement benefitsStrong culture focused on safety, training, and professional developmentFast-growing organization with long-term stability and recurring client workJob Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Robinson, IL.Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.RequirementsEligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
