Position OverviewThe West Virginia University School of Theatre and Dance (an accredited member of NASD) seeks a dynamic, collegial faculty member for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track appointment in its growing undergraduate dance program that offers a BA in dance and a minor in dance.ResponsibilitiesTeach dance courses in ballet, jazz, world dance, commercial, musical theatre styles, and dance appreciation.Choreograph one or more pieces for the school's main stage dance concert.Serve as artistic director, on a rotating basis with other dance faculty, for the dance concerts.Choreograph for the school's musical theatre productions on a rotating basis.Engage in significant professional and creative activities and/or research with a regional, national, and international scope, required for tenure.Maintain an active profile on and off campus and contribute to the intellectual life of the School of Theatre & Dance community.Participate in curriculum development, recruitment and retention activities, academic advising, and faculty governance and committee activities.QualificationsMFA in dance or substantial professional experience equivalent to an MFA.At least 3 years teaching experience at the college/university level.Professional dance and/or choreographic experience in professionally recognized and respected venues; affiliations with national dance companies desirable.Experience teaching choreography, modern, contemporary, hip-hop, or other genres highly desired.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; enjoys working collaboratively and collegially in a fast-paced educational environment.J-18808-Ljbffr
